1999 Rolex Explorer II 16570 Polar
This A serial Rolex Explorer II reference 16570 in “Polar” dial is a great transitional example. The years 1997 to 1999 were major transitional years for many of Rolex’s models. Oftentimes different combinations of the various elements such as the luminous material of the dials as well as the bracelet end links, were found in production during these years.
This particular example has a correct SWISS MADE luminova dial and hand set. It comes on a 78790 bracelet with 501B end links. The bracelet clasp code corresponds correctly to its age, and has 12 total links.
The watch is overall, in good, used condition. Much of the case and the bracelet remain unpolished, with the exception of the crown-side lugs (both top right and bottom right lugs), which appear to have been lightly polished sometime in the past. The clasp shows wear and typical “desk diving” scratches.
It is running well within COSC specs.
