1981 Rolex Datejust 16030 Gray Buckley Dial

These painted roman numeral dials, nicknamed ‘Buckley’ dials, are found on datejusts and day-dates. More commonly found in white, this example has a rare gray Buckley dial. Correct matching black hand set, which is hard to find on these. The watch has aged nicely, with most of its lume plots having a puffy yellow patina. Missing lume plots on the 4 and 5 markers, and the hour hand is missing lume. The watch comes on a vintage Joske’s “HECHO EN MEXICO” oval link jubilee bracelet, an uncommon variant of the jubilee when Rolex had subcontracted their bracelets out to Mexico.
