1970 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date 1500 Blue Mosaic
1970 2.2m serial Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date reference 1500 with the desirable shantung (“woven silk”) or mosaic dial in blue. They’re unique, and very difficult to find in this condition. This example is a clean one, with the tritium lume plots on the dial remaining a puffy, deep yellow. There is minor lume burn surrounding some of the plots, but is not noticeable against the blue dial. The smooth bezel is clean, with light signs of wear. A small ding on the 2 o’clock edge of the bezel. The date wheel has open 6 and 9s, with a replacement crystal sans cyclops.
The watch comes on its original folded link 7835 oyster bracelet, with minor stretch and is in very good condition for its age. Depending on tightness, fits up to a 6.8-7” wrist.
The watch is running well within COSC specs.
