In 2008, Patek released a jumbo modern iteration of the Golden Ellipse in its 40th anniversary, the 5738P in platinum with sunburst blue dial. The Golden Ellipse has just a height of 5.9mm and houses the ultra thin cal 240. A discreet diamond set on the 6 o’clock, along with the platinum case often mistaken for steel, adds to the notion of the 5738P as a stealth wealth timepiece. The watch was originally purchased from the boutique in 2018, but remained unworn and sealed in its original inventory box, included with the sale. The previous owner purchased it as new old stock in 2021 via John Reardon, and has been worn carefully since. Light scratches visible on the platinum case. Much of the wear is on the strap where it meets the platinum buckle.
