1987 Rolex GMT-Master II 16760 Fat Lady on Jubilee

$13,950.00

The very first GMT-Master II was the reference 16760, which introduced the quick set jumping hour hand. Nicknamed the “Fat Lady” after its thick and curvy case, this reference is incredibly difficult to find in a condition that takes after what made it popular! This example retains its case thickness, bearing its original chamfers, and most importantly, its crown guards remain very square. Minor ding on the edge of the bottom crown guard. The tritium dial and hands have aged a nice custard yellow. The hour and seconds hands are original tritium, while the GMT and minute hand have been repaired with period correct luminous material by LAWW (redacted service paper will be included). Originally glossy, the lacquered dial has turned matte in most areas. Light speckling around the hour markers, and throughout the dial, which is common on this watch of the era. Original open 6/9 date wheel with some minor discoloration on the 30th date. It comes on a jubilee bracelet with correct end links for the sports models. The jubilee has been lightly polished and has some moderate slack.
