1970 Rolex Submariner 1680 Red Submariner MK2 - Complete Set

$79,950.00

Excited to offer this collector grade Rolex Submariner, reference 1680 from 1970. It is extremely difficult to find a watch over 50 years old, in this condition and completeness. The watch is unmolested and offered in as-found condition, reflecting all of its 52-year long signs of aging.

This Red Submariner exhibits a Mark II dial: meters first, and open 6s on the depth rating. Incredible even aging on the lume plots and the hands, which have aged evenly, along with its tritium bezel pip on the correct MK3 bezel. The black bezel has slightly faded, showing dark blue tones. The formerly black dial has slightly turned a ‘tropical’ brown, a very common and desirable characteristic of the Red Submariners in this era. Under the sunlight is where the dial manifests itself most. It exhibits the perfect combination of colors, whether slight or bright, and harmoniously work together: black, dark blue, yellow, dark brown and of course, red.

Although showing some signs of wear, chamfers, lines, and the brushing on the case and bracelet are obvious and clear. The chamfer correctly runs from the lugs to the crown guards, which remain square. Its original top hat acrylic crystal remains in very good condition, with minor scratches visible. The engraved serial and reference numbers between the lugs are easily visible as well.

The condition of the watch, coupled with the completeness of the set, is unmatched on the market today. An excellent contender for the permanent vintage collection.
