1982 Rolex Submariner 16800 Transitional Matte Dial

$0.00
sold out

This early production of the Rolex Submariner transitional reference 16800, is one of the more collectible variants featuring a matte dial carryover from the previous generation of submariners. Its 7.2 serial dates it to a 1982 production. It’s the first Submariner date reference to feature a sapphire crystal. The dial and hands have both aged to a dark yellow. There is a small black dot on the 5 o’clock lume plot. Some slight oxidation and cracking on the hands due to age, which is apparent in models of the same generation.

The lume pip on the bezel insert matches the dial and hands, while the once-black insert has now faded to a deep dark blue. The blue tones can be seen in different lights. There are some scratches on the bezel.

It comes on a 93150 bracelet with diver’s extension. The case and bracelet have been refinished by LA Watchworks.
